Money and Finance How to manage your money Health and Fitness Keeping your family healthy The Golden Plains Area Extension Program is a joint effort of the counties in Colorado's Northeastern Plains to provide citizens with valued Extension resources. -- 2020 Colorado Wheat County Meetings and Elections Colorado wheat farmers are invited to attend and participate in the annual county business meetings and elections jointly sponsored by the Colorado Wheat Administrative Committee (CWAC), the Colorado Association of Wheat Growers (CAWG) and the Colorado Wheat Research Foundation (CWRF). The business meetings and elections will be held January 21-23, 2020, at seven different locations. More Information -- -- Plan Now For 2020 Healthier Weigh Challenge The 2020 "A Healthier Weigh" challenge is set to begin in seven northeast Colorado counties in early January. There will be a staggered start as each county has setup their own registration and weigh-in date. However, the educational content of the program will be consistent for all counties. The AHW challenge encourages increasing activity, making wise food choices, and living a healthier lifestyle in 2020. The annual 12-week Health and Fitness Challenge will take on a theme of Make 2020 Your Healthiest Year! Registration packets are available at the County Extension Offices, and are due the week of weigh-ins starting January 6th and continuing into the next week. Specific weigh-in times and locations are available at each County Extension Office. Team registration is $160 or $40 per team member. More Information -- -- Precision Irrigation Meeting Colorado State University Extension will be hosting a meeting discussing simplifying precision irrigation. There is growing demand regarding managing irrigation water more efficiently with sprinkler irrigation using Variable Rate Technology (VRI). Recent studies have found that VRI technology can save up to 26% of irrigation water annually when managed correctly. However, technology may be ahead of science presently. While we have the technology to deliver how much water a crop needs, when the crop needs the water, and where in the field the water is needed, the science to write the proper prescription maps to match VRI technology capabilities are continuing to be developed. This workshop is designed to understand the complexities associated with VRI prescription systems along with the challenges in addition to realizing the tremendous opportunities VRI technology offers precision irrigation strategies.
